Services: Test Proctoring
The Kent District Library strives to support opportunities for independent study and life-long learning by offering proctoring services to our patrons. Staff will proctor student exams under the following guidelines:
1. A $5.00 fee will be charged for each examination. To be eligible for proctoring service provided by the Kent District Library, a valid KDL library card will be required. Proctoring services are provided at the convenience of library staff when basic library responsibilities and availability of space allow it.
2. While library staff will do its best to meet the scheduling needs of the student, the staff will determine the date and time for appointments. Examinations will be scheduled Monday – Saturday during library open hours. All examinations must be completed prior to the library’s closing time.
3. Students are responsible for contacting library staff to schedule an appointment for the examination. Examination appointments will not be scheduled until the library has received the exam. The library will hold the exam for up to 45 days prior to the examination appointment. Any exams not completed within that time will be returned to the testing institution.
4. Any examinations not taken at the scheduled time will be held for one week, and then returned to the testing institution.
5. The library cannot provide proctoring for examinations that require unusual or stringent proctoring guidelines (e.g. examinations that require staff to remain in the same room, examinations that require multiple timed-sessions, etc.)
6. Offering online exams is at the discretion of each branch with the following disclaimer. Access to the testing site or completion of the exam may not be possible due to technical issues. Appointments must be made, although there is no guarantee a computer will be available at the appointed time. Students may have to wait until a computer becomes available.
7. In addition to the $5.00 per exam fee, all costs related to the examination, such as postage for mailing the exam or photocopying, is the responsibility of the student and must be paid prior to the return of the envelope to the testing institution. Kent District Library will not collect fees owed to the testing institution. The testing institution is responsible for collecting all test related fees directly from the student.
8. All exams will be returned to the testing institution via U.S. Mail, generally within 24 hours after completion. Students are responsible for arranging pickup for any exams requiring alternate delivery forms, such as FedEx.
9. The following KDL branches currently offer proctoring services:
